Become Stewards of the Earth

About Our Partnership

In partnership with the Vatican and the Laudato Si Movement, Plastic Bank® is empowering Catholic Communities to help stop ocean plastic while improving lives in vulnerable coastal communities.

Plastic Bank builds ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal communities

We reprocess discarded materials for reintroduction into the global supply chain as Social Plastic®. Collectors receive a premium for the materials they recover which helps them provide basic family necessities such as groceries, cooking fuel, school tuition and health insurance.

The Laudato Si campaign empowers communities to care for our common home: Planet Earth.

Together, we are empowering church members to become Stewards of the Earth by establishing plastic collection points in existing church communities. These accessible collection points encourage members to properly recycle their plastic waste and reduce their congregation’s plastic footprint.

Plastic Bank and Laudato Si are creating environmental, social and economic impact.

“I urge you to be a conscious citizen. Be someone who cares for other people. Be someone who cares for life. Be a steward of the earth. I cannot think of anything more important.”

David Katz, CEO & Founder of Plastic Bank
