It’s the treaty that failed, not the people.

The Global Plastic Treaty in Geneva has failed to reach an agreement to regulate plastic waste. This disappointing outcome is far less than what our planet and people deserve. It makes one thing clear: no one is coming to save us - neither the governments, nor the big corporations. Though a setback, it’s no reason to lose hope. The truth remains that change is in our hands. We can’t wait for a movement; we are the movement.
We stay hopeful because our collectors are on the frontlines turning plastic waste into value. Because our partners continue to build prosperity in communities that need it most. Because there are people who choose to act and not accept failure. The fight against plastic pollution and poverty will be won through action, not just talks. The discussions may have ended without a treaty, but that only makes our resolve stronger. We will keep going, not because leaders failed, but because it’s just us. Together we hold the power of 8 billion people to create the future we deserve.

This is the heart of our mission at Plastic Bank: uniting people to stand for both the planet and communities, and to create prosperity for all. Join our movement to build a thriving world. 💙♻️
