What collaborating with Plastic Bank did for PCPPI

Strengthened ESG credibility and regulatory compliance

When PCPPI partnered with Plastic Bank in 2022, the goal was to meet the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law in the Philippines. The collaboration delivered consistent audit compliance—a critical milestone for a leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company. It supported the recovery of 13,000 metric tons of post-consumer plastic in 2024.

Future-proofed business through purpose-driven ESG

By integrating Plastic Bank’s plastic recovery infrastructure, PCPPI went beyond regulatory compliance to build a future-resilient business. The partnership mitigated risk from evolving plastic waste policies and helped transform environmental stewardship into a business growth strategy.

Built trust with employees, stakeholders, and communities

Plastic Bank’s model allowed PCPPI to embed sustainability in its internal culture while uplifting the lives of local collectors. Employees became ESG ambassadors, local government units partnered in community programs, and customers saw PCPPI as a trusted sustainability leader.

How we collaborate

Each year, PCPPI funds the recovery of plastic waste equivalent to its plastic footprint in the Philippines. This ensures EPR compliance while supporting recycling communities in cities like Cebu, Pampanga, Davao, and Muntinlupa.

Since 2022, PCPPI has consistently passed audits for EPR compliance with the support of Plastic Bank. The company has also engaged its workforce in environmental education, including ESG learning sessions featuring Plastic Bank as a guest speaker, transforming awareness into action.

What purpose means to PCPPI

For PCPPI, sustainability isn’t just a department—it’s a business imperative. It fuels innovation, enhances operational resilience, and builds trust in the brand. Purpose shows up in how the company embeds ESG in day-to-day operations and long-term planning, ensuring that responsible business practices are deeply integrated within its culture.

“Plastic Bank encouraged us to think bigger—to move from a manufacturing-only sustainability model to a company-wide mindset that involves our people, partners, and consumers. That shift created value beyond compliance.“

PCPPI’s formula for success

Unified ESG leadership that drives cultural transformation

With the appointment of its first Chief ESG Officer in 2023, PCPPI integrated sustainability, compliance, legal, and people initiatives into one cohesive ESG strategy. This structure enabled faster decision-making and more aligned action. Through campaigns like internal bottle collection drives, Earth Hour participation, and ESG learning sessions featuring Plastic Bank, employees became environmental ambassadors. The result: a workforce energized by purpose, and a company culture where sustainability is part of everyone’s role—not just a department.

Deep community integration through partnership and purpose

Plastic Bank helped PCPPI go beyond operational compliance to build authentic local partnerships. By participating in programs like Adopt-a-River and co-creating community recycling initiatives, PCPPI directly supported the goals of local government units (LGUs) and grassroots organizations. These efforts enhanced material recovery facilities, created livelihood opportunities, and built trust at the community level. This collaborative approach positioned PCPPI as a reliable ally in local development, enabling smoother operations and long-term goodwill.

ESG as a business growth lever

Sustainability has become a competitive advantage for PCPPI. The company’s credibility in ESG, reinforced by its partnership with Plastic Bank, has opened conversations with new business partners, especially younger, sustainability-driven entrepreneurs. International forums in Jakarta and Singapore have recognized PCPPI’s holistic ESG model, further strengthening its brand reputation.
