Ocean-bound plastic

Ocean-bound plastic has not yet found its way into the ocean. This represents plastic that is found on the ground within 50 kilometers of a waterway or coastal area, and is otherwise unlikely to be collected.

Bottles Stopped

The amount of ocean-bound plastic collected and recycled in our recycling communities converted into bottles. Conversion rate is 50 bottles per kg (the average weight of a 500mL bottle is ~20g)

Community Members

Our history

In 2019, Greiner Packaging partnered with Plastic Bank to activate a recycling ecosystem in the Philippines. Greiner Packaging’s first collection branch was launched in November 2019 at Barangay 275, San Nicolas, Manila. What started out as one collection branch has evolved into an ecosystem of 5 branches, impacting the lives of over 200 collectors and their families.

“We take great pride in our partnership with Plastic Bank. By working together to build recycling infrastructure in the Philippines, we are taking action to stop ocean plastic and work with local communities to improve living conditions.”
