COMING SOON: Plastic Bank feature in "Plastic Earth"

A lot of films tackle the plastic crisis, but very few showcase the solution.

We're proud to share that Plastic Bank, along with a variety of incredible organizations that are working together for a wasteless world, will be featured in the upcoming documentary "Plastic Earth" – the first feature film of its kind to cover the solutions and technologies to tackle the plastic crisis.

Philippines

Before the end of 2022, our team in the Philippines held a series of events called “Plastic Bank Christmas: For the Community and Ocean” in Tondo, Manila; Payatas, Quezon City; and Naga, Camarines Sur. We were glad to witness the spirit of camaraderie among our collection community members who had tons of fun bonding and teaming up with each other to play games. Our members’ contributions to stopping ocean plastic were also recognized with the distribution of additional rewards!

Indonesia

In Indonesia, the team gathered to celebrate our collection community members in Bali, Surabaya, and Jakarta in December. It was a day filled with games, prizes, and food – our simple way of giving back and ensuring our collection members have a great time before welcoming another year. We also shared updates about the progress of our operations in the country and introduced the community to the many BPJS work insurance benefits.

Brazil

In December, we invited 250 collection community members in Rio De Janeiro to join us for a social action event where we distributed food parcels and provided free haircuts, blood pressure and glucose measurement, and other social assistance.

Our Ocean Stewards in Brazil have also unlocked another milestone by the end of 2022, preventing over 3.5 million kilograms of plastic from entering the ocean – the equivalent of more than 175 million single-use 500ml PET bottles. We are grateful for our community members’ dedication to saving our ocean, planet, and humanity as a whole!
