HUGE Social Plastic updates!

Thank you for joining the movement to stop ocean plastic with Plastic Bank! We’re thrilled to have you on this journey with us and we want to keep you up to date with our progress.

🎉 It’s our 5-year anniversary! 🎉

We’ve come a very long way from our humble beginnings in 2013. But we’ve always maintained the same big vision—and it’s now coming to life.

Check out our recent progress below:

You can go Plastic Neutral with one click!

Many of you have asked us how you can best contribute to the movement on an individual level. Well, the answer is finally here!

Starting today, we invite you to become personally Plastic Neutral by contributing directly to the Social Plastic® Ecosystem.

The average person uses 84 kg of plastic per year, and we can’t all be perfect recyclers. While you work on lowering your plastic consumption, you can neutralize your plastic footprint by preventing an equivalent amount of plastic from reaching our oceans and ensuring it is properly recycled.

Your Plastic Neutral contribution recycles 4,200 ocean-bound water bottles and provides life-changing income for collectors in impoverished regions.

Social Plastic is now in Manila, Philippines

Plastic Bank is helping disadvantaged families in the Baseco barangay (district) of Manila earn a stable, livable income by cleaning the plastic pollution that has destroyed their environment.

Baseco is one of the poorest areas of the Philippines, where 60% of families live on less than $136 USD per month. With the new Social Plastic Ecosystem in place, we expect 1,500 families to add $80-100 to their monthly income, substantially bettering their livelihoods. We’ll keep you updated as our Filipino operations continue to grow!

Our TED Talk has reached 1,000,000 views!

Wow! Thanks to the fantastic support of our fanbase, our vision has been spread to over one million viewers. Your passion for stopping ocean plastic is instrumental to getting the corporate world on board. And they're doing so at an alarming rate!

The Eyes of the Street campaign is live!

As we work to eradicate poverty in underprivileged regions, a significant challenge is reducing the stigma attached to less fortunate lifestyles.

Eyes of the Street is an organization focused on doing just that: by providing the tools for impoverished persons to tell their own stories, we get a humanizing, personal, and surprising perspective from the voices we don't usually hear.

Click here to see their resulting work, and please consider helping them fund their expansion.

Plenty more is in the pipeline, and we can’t wait to share each exciting moment with you. Until then, please spread the word and go plastic neutral to support Plastic Bank in our mission to revolutionize recycling worldwide.

With sustainable love,
