MALIBU SUPPORTS COMMUNITIES IN THE PHILIPPINES

Malibu is the number one white rum-based coconut spirit in the world. But it is best known as the refreshing taste of summer. It’s no surprise that Malibu Original—a liqueur made with white rum and coconut flavor—is the main ingredient in iconic cocktails like the Malibu Piña Colada, Malibu Bay Breeze, and Malibu Frozen Daiquiri. In fact, it is said to have been originally invented to make the Piña Colada easier to prepare—or rather, more delicious.

More than just a key ingredient in beloved cocktails, Malibu is committed to supporting coconut farming communities in the Philippines. With coconut at its core, the brand partners to improve the livelihoods of coconut farmers and their families. Through demonstration farms promoting sustainable practices, Malibu helps farmers diversify their income, leading to a 15% increase in earnings and a 20% boost in farm yields for 500 farmers so far.

Partnering for environmental and social impact

Summer is a season that holds a special place in Malibu’s heart—and one it is committed to protecting. It’s difficult to imagine summer without the beauty of beaches like those found in the Philippines, which also happens to be where Malibu sources most of its coconuts.

That’s why, since 2021, they have been partnering with Plastic Bank to help tackle plastic pollution and improve the lives of collection members in the Philippines. Through this partnership, Malibu has committed to removing 800 tonnes of plastic from the environment this year—equivalent to 40 million plastic bottles!
