Every year, we deepen our commitment to ending poverty and stopping plastic pollution. But 2024 marked a turning point. It was the year we scaled impact beyond what we once thought possible—thanks to the unstoppable force of our collection communities, partners, and impact members.
Here’s a closer look at what we accomplished together.
In 2024, over 30,000 collection members helped us gather 43.5 million kilograms of plastic waste—that’s more than 2.1 billion plastic bottles stopped from polluting our environment. Behind that milestone is something even more powerful: the lives changed.
This year, we delivered 100% digital social benefits with full traceability across six countries. By streamlining our systems and listening closely to community needs, we made every dollar stretch further—turning discarded plastic into stable income, groceries, insurance, school supplies, and a source of dignity for our communities.
These are not numbers—they are proof that purpose-backed systems, innovation, and collaboration can move the needle at scale.
1 Data from PlasticBank app, April 2025
Meet Elizabeth in the Philippines, who has turned plastic into education for her grandchildren. Romany in Egypt, who collected over 16,000 kilograms now supports his family and his brother’s education. Tuti’s branch in Indonesia recovers up to 10,000 kilograms of plastic each month while creating jobs in her community.
These are not exceptions. These are the stories unfolding every day across our movement. This is the prosperity effect in action.
From SC Johnson’s regenerative packaging to Reckitt’s global sustainability goals, our partners are proving that doing good is good for business. In 2024 alone, our social EPR program helped remove over 16 million kilograms of discarded plastic from the environment—a 146% increase from the year before.
All of this is traceable, verified, and circular. Plastic gathered by our communities is recycled into plastic feedstock by over 20 processor partners across the globe. The material is reintegrated into new packaging and products, reducing the demand for virgin plastic and supporting a closed-loop economy.
We’re growing a global movement that reflects the world we serve. Our team spans 10+ countries, and we’re proud that 58% of collection members and 50% of employees are women. We continue to prioritize just wages, safe working conditions, and a culture of inclusion.
This year, we launched new systems for performance management, digital access, and community dialogue—because we believe prosperity should be inclusive, earned, and shared.
As consumers become more conscious of the impact their choices create, businesses can no longer rely on commercial gimmickry for growth. They need purpose, transparency, and proof of impact. That’s exactly what we provide—backed by blockchain, near real-time data, and the indisputable strength of a global community taking action.
Every time a customer chooses a product powered by Plastic Bank, they vote for a better future. That’s not charity. That’s shared prosperity.
2024 showed us that the impossible becomes possible when we gather together. From our collection members to our brand partners, every human in this movement plays a role in regenerating our planet and serving all life on it.
The journey to a more equitable and regenerative world begins with the commitment to prosper with—and not off of—the people and the planet.
